newest news

2009-04-13

Hey,
so you have not heard from me for a quite long time. That's why I thought I should update you guys again :P
My subject in school are still English, History and Web design. All of them except Webdesign are really, really boring.
Track season started a couple of weeks ago. We have already had about 4 meets, I think. The first league meet (which counts for the season) was agains Watsonville and we won this one, even though many people were in China with the band. The last week was spring break, thats why we did not have any practice or meet. The next meet is next week, I believe.
At the first league meet, I won all the events I’ve done :). I jumped 6,35 meters (new PR) long, 1,75m high and had 12,45m in triple jump. This was a quite good meet for me :P
Well, so there is not a lot else to tell u guys. I was in San Francisco for a day. I’ll probably upload the pictures pretty soon...

I miss u all <3

basketball playoffs

2009-02-23

Hey,
well, today I have a great news. We made it to the CCS playoffs!!!! Even though we had a pretty bad pre season... Tomorrow we are playing Pioneer High up in San Jose.
We made it to the playoffs, cause we won three games out of the last four games. So we are a .500 team. This means you won as many games as you lost. If you have that you are allowed to get chosen to go to the playoffs. Many other teams are trying to get that place too, so were lucky to get the opportunity.
So I will tell you tomorrow if we won or not. ;)
Bye for now,
Sebastian

UPDATE: Good game, but we lost. I think by 20 or so. In halftime we only were behind by 4, but then we didn't play that well in the second half.

steelers champ

2009-02-05

Hey
well, the headline says everything. The steelers won the Superbowl and are football world champion...Not really, but if you win the NFL, then you are like the World Champion, cause all the other leagues besides the college league suck.
So, yeah Steelers are champ, even though almost everybody was for the Cardinals...well probably except me and the Pittsburgh fans ;)
I think there is nothing more left to tell you about this week...
I updated the site a little bit, so that you can listen to kinda local and popular band/singer... If you want to add some bands let me know. Just leave a comment in my guestbook :)
I also slightly changed the way you can comment a news. It is now a lot more intuitive, so I hope you will write a lot of comments for me and everybody :P
Servus,
Basti

new schedule

2009-01-26

Hey,
today I wanna write the 16th news :)
It will be about my new schedule, which I have had for about 2 weeks.
Unfortunately I don't have anymore basketball as a class. And no more calculus and asb as well :'( I really enjoyed these two classes...Well, of course I enjoyed basketball either, but this wasn't a really class...
Now I have English III, American History and Webdesing ( :) ). The best one by far is Webdesing. But on the other side, english and history are so boring. Especially history is sooooooo boring. There we have a student teacher and she is teaching so slooow. I always have to pay attention, that I don't fall asleep. English is boring too, but there I sit next to a friend from switzerland and have two cool dudes in front of me, so I have some company... Well, that's whats going on at school right now, pretty much.
Our basketball season has just started. We already had three games and won one...Tomorrow we have another one, which we have to win in order to stay in race for the payoffs.

Maybe I go next weekend with the swiss guy and a friend from Sweden to go skiing. I'm looking forward for that.
Allright, I think I shared now the important stuff with u and am looking forward to hear from you :)
Your Sebastian

P.S.: This weekend is Super Bowl XLIII :P I don't know exactly why I'm for the steelers, but I guess I have always played with them on the PlayStation and now I also cheer for them in real life.

Hey,
today I wanna tell you about my christmas here in the United States. I already wrote a lot in the guestbook so I don't feel like explaining it twice. I uploaded a bunch of pictures of the christmas party at my siblings' (Geschwister) Dad and grandma.

I came home from Disneyland on the 23. It was really cool there, especially the second day where we went to a different party next door. This was a better park for people in my age. We almost got kicked out three times (:P) but it was a lot of fun...
So, well this was this news, even though it is a bit too late :P

First Win

2008-12-01

Today we won our first basketballgame. After three close lost games, it was very good to win a game. But it is still preseason and it doesn't really count for the normal season. Our next game is next tuesday against Soquel at home. Hopefully we are going to win this game, too.

Today my hostmum got gas for $1,85 a gallon, what is like 0,39 euro per liter. This is the lowest gas-prize I"ve ever seen. As I arrived here the price per gallon was something like $3,80 per gallon. But in the last weeks it went down to this very low price. Well, this was my news for this week. Even though it wasn't too private, I think it is worth to be a news on my homepage.
Bye for now,
Sebastian

Hello again... today I gonna write about my new subject in school, basketball...yeah u read right...BASKETBALL, my new 3rd block. That means that I have now calculus, ASB and basketball. What a tough schedule... well since today I have basketball six times a week, which includes conditioning after normal practice. In a month is our first game against Hollister. We need to work a lot 'till we can play as a team, because this is nearly a whole new team and nobody has ever played together before. But we have a great coach, who can help us reach our goal to get to the playoffs.

Posted by Sebastian Kohn on 2008-10-21

Hey since today I have again a new first block, calculus. I changed it because it algebra was so easy and my teacher came to me and said, if I would like to change it to calculus and it said yes...:)

Posted by Sebastian Kohn on 2008-10-21

I just want to give you a quick update, that I changed my first block to algebra 2. After I met my history teacher and he told me what I have to do for his class I droped that class, because I would have to write a essay every single night and this is probably the last thing I want to do...so I decided to change that, what wasn't really a problem. Well that was the litttle update I wanted to give u.
Looking forward to hear from you, Sebastian

first school day

2008-08-18

Hey, today was my first day of school. This morning I drove with my mum to the school, where we had to go at first to the main office to fill out some stuff. After that I met my coordinator, Mr Sanchez. With him we worked out my schedule for the next year. After maybe 10 minutes we were done: In the first half year I have chemistry, US history, English, ASB and Photo... But history and english is rotating every day. So I have 4 subjects a day and every single one is one and a half hour long. After 9 weeks my last lesson changes from photo to............BASKETBALL... hehe yes basketball as a school subjects... I really like the school here.
After we figured all this stuff out my mum, who was used to work at this school brought me to my first class, chemistry. There I met Emir, a turkish exchange student. He already arrived here a month ago. As this class was over I went to history. But this is a AP (Advanced Programm) class so it seems to be very hard. Therefore I try to change this class tomorrow:P
allright now I say again servus...I'm looking to write for you next time and I miss you all so much......BYE Basti

So then after this great and long sleep we were fit again, fit enough to meet our new families. But there was this orientation camp from AFS left... so we were driven at first to a bowling centre, where we got to know each other better and we could eat our second original american meal there. It was a huge cheeseburger...Yummie :) Then we bowled... this has maybe been my lowest score so far but it was quite OK...After that back in the hotel we started our orientation. Fortounatly it wasn’t that long..A volunteer drove me about 2 and a half hour later down to PRUNEDALE, because my hostmom was still at work and she had to drive this direction anyway. So one hour later we arrived in Berta Canyon Road. There I met my new family. They were all so nice and showed my the house and especially my room. It was Erin’s room, but she goes to the university in San Francisco so it was free for me. It is a very nice, bright room with TV :) after that we met again in the living room and talked a lot...Yeah this was my first time with my new american family. It was great. I’m so happy that they choosed me.

I started to think about spending an exchange year maybe two years ago. I wanted to do this because the United States are my favorite country and I wanted to stay for a year there. So I decided to go there. And finally got a place at AFS to go there. The big day was on August 13th. It was early, very early, it was 5 o'clock in the morning of course. We had to say goodbye at the Airport in Frankfurt... for a year... so everybody was not that happy. But after that everybody was happy and excited for their huge adventure one year in the USA. Most of us in the plane got a family in California, just like me. I was so happy as I got the letter from AFS, that they found a hostfamily in California. I forgot all the pain I had caused of this dumb 100m race at the bavarian championship. I went to my computer and looked where my new home excatly is. And then I was even more happy only 10 miles to the ocean and only two hours by car to San Fransisco. Oh dude I can't explain how happy I was...So to go on with my little story... as we were all in our Boeing 747 everybody was very happy and couldn't wait till they see their hostfamily. Then after like ten and a half hour the plane departed in Los Angeles (!!!) There we had to pass some security stations, but that was not that bad... After that we met some volunteers from AFS. They split us in maybe three or four groups. In my group there was Christine from Duesseldorf and Jan from Stuttgart. Justine, a past exchange student, who is now living in Portland, went with us through the next security check and waited with us nearly the whole 6 hours for the next airplane, which was flying us to San Jose, our final destination. Finally we made it into the airport and got to our biggest city next door. There we met our local AFS volunteer, who was driving us to the hotel for our orientation. Ten minutes after we arrived there we went to a pizza place where we three ate a lot of pizza. Then we went back to the hotel, took a shower and went to bed. Oh my god...I was so tired.
